New Manga + March Anime Clubs
ANIME CLUB NEWS
This month we have not one, but TWO Anime Clubs, and our very first on a Saturday. If you are able to make it on Tuesday, March 20th from 5:30-7:30 p.m., come prepared to help plan our Saturday, March 24th from 12:00-4:00 p.m. event!
NEW MANGA
Our Anime Club and Teen Advisory Group members have been very helpful in suggesting new titles for our Manga section. Here are a few new (to us) additions containing everything from killer puppets to scientific mysteries. Enjoy!

Grand Guignol Orchestra
Grand Guignol Orchestra (人形(ギニョール)宮廷楽団?, Guignol Kyūtei Gakudan) is a gothic horror manga series written and illustrated by Kaori Yuki (. The story is about a beautiful singer named Lucille and his orchestra who is invited to a town threatened by puppets that attack humans.

Princess Knight
Set in a medieval fairy-tale backdrop, Princess Knight is the tale of a young princess named Sapphire who must pretend to be a male prince so she can inherit the throne. Women have long been prevented from taking the throne, but Sapphire is not discouraged and instead she fully accepts the role, becoming a dashing hero(ine) that the populous is proud of.

A Certain Scientific Railgun
Meet Mikoto Misaka, the third most powerful Level 5 esper in Academy City. Together with her best friend Kuroko Shirai and the other members of Judgment, a student-run law enforcement agency, Mikoto delves deep into the dark heart of the scientific sprawl she calls home, and uncovers secrets she wishes she hadn’t!
January Anime Club: Monster Craft Edition
On Tuesday, January 17th from 5:30-7:30 in the Sendak room, the CRPL Anime Club will be watching Naruto Shippuden and working on creating a Monster banner for the library from the book Me Make Monster by Jenny Harada. As always, there will be Ramen noodles and snacks, and possibly some circle time. Hope to see you there!
Clay Contest Winners!
Last night we had our first ever clay contest for Anime Club. The results were AMAZING and it was great to see how creative our Anime Club can get. Here are our winners, and you can find the rest of the photos from last night on our Facebook page.
Winner: Tiniest Creation
Winner: Best Anime
Winner: Overall (which kind of meant everything else)
On a slightly un-related note, I was looking at the Anime Characters Database, which lets you search for Anime characters by gender, hair color, hair length, animal ears, and MORE. I’m thinking we need a search like this for the library – especially for the questions like, “I’m looking for a book with a RED cover that is about THIS <——–> big with a dragon on the cover.”
Anime Club + Contest + New Manga ^_^
Join us on Tuesday, Dec. 20th from 5:30-7:30 at the Westdale Library for our monthly Anime Club! All 6th-12th graders are welcome to stop by, eat Ramen noodles, watch Anime, and participate in our first ever clay creation contest. The group will vote on the winners, and we have Viz Media tote bags and CRPL water bottles as prizes. In September, we recorded a video of the club dancing and you can find that video on our Facebook page here.
In other Anime related news, we have been getting some new titles in, thanks to some help from Teen Advisory Group member Tanner! I’ve included a few below – but they are flying off the shelf, so get in line for these by logging into your account on our catalog.

September Anime Club
At the September Anime Club, we tried to watch D-Gray Man (with some technical difficulties), cosplayed, did some dancing, and some members attempted a random mall flash mob that didn’t really work out. Here are some pictures, and you can find more on the CRPL Teen Facebook page. The next CRPL Anime Club is on Tuesday, October 18th from 5:30-7:30 in the Sendak room at the Westdale Library.
New Manga!
The series below are all new to the CRPL Manga collection in August. Enjoy! ^_^
Have some suggestions to add to the collection? Notice some gaps in series you’d like filled? Leave your comments below.

Ouran High School Host Club
Ouran Academy: An institution of extravagance and prestige where learning comes secondary to luxury. That is until the day Haruhi stumbles upon the Host Club, a stumble which leaves the freshman indebted for millions of yen. And the only way to pay for the damages? Well, Haruhi will work as a Host. There’s only one problem: Haru-he is actually a Haru-she!
From the troublesome twins with their little games to the self-proclaimed “king” obsessed with the club’s newest member, these boys will cater to any desire. Freshman year definitely looks like it will be one to remember!

And Karasuma? Can you say clueless? He’s pretty much all about the curry.
School Rumble? The absolutely funniest show you’ll ever see that’s not about anything that rumbles… ever!
Ghost Hunt
The dead have something to say…
The appeal of the unknown is undeniable and freshman Mai Taniyama is hooked. This fact, coupled with her burgeoning psychic powers, leads Mai to join the ranks of the Shibuya Psychic Research team. Led by enigmatic Kazuya “Naru” Shibuya, she works alongside a spirit medium and a shrine maiden, an exorcist and a monk to uncover the darkest mysteries of the unseen. Using state of the art technology and their respective spiritual gifts, evil is confronted and vanquished time and again.
Death is temporary and far worse fates await those which meet a harsh end. From the trembling walls of a haunted school to the bottom of a well that beckons to dead children, the horrors of reality unfold.
4.5 More Days…
…till the first CRPL Anime Club meeting of the year! Stop by the Westdale Mall library from 5:30-7:30 on Tuesday in the Sendak room to watch a TBA anime from Funimation on a really, really big screen, decide what we watch in the future, make some awesome cube crafts, and eats SNACKS. If you can’t make this one, you can find other dates here, and sign up to get some snail mail there as well.
